The quotes from the WT about members of the cat family eating coconuts are ridiculous because, as obligate carnivores, they will die painful deaths if they do not eat meat.

Tonight's Meeting
by Studyover induring tonight's meeting the brother seemed to read out something along the lines of "you may be helping a poor sister who you think may be struggling, but in turn that sister may be getting financial assistance from the government.
it is always best to stick to jehovah's arrangement in these matters so that help can get to those who most need it, including the worldwide work".
i think it may have been an article about social media platforms initially and how they should be avoided and then this was mentioned.

Only once while I was active did I see a blatant example of a newly interested person try to fleece the congregation for charity. Apparently this guy would work his way around the local churches, getting whatever he could out of them.
Contrast that with an older, long term member of the congregation that may need genuine help and it seems here that this elder is saying, 'let Satan's organisation support our elderly, just keep sending your coin to headquarters'.

Somehow, without really meaning to, I've been to NY 3 times. When Aussies travel, we often make it a 5 or 6 week event, so we can make the most of the long haul flights we have take to get overseas. A couple of these holidays have included NYC.
We walked day after day around the city, took the subway, saw all the sights, the lower east side, Brooklyn, Central Park, museums etc.
Maybe its just me, but NYC didn't really do it for me and I still don't know why. I feel like maybe I missed something? Its not that I didnt enjoy it, I did, but not as much as I thought I would. Its got character- maybe it would be cool to live there, instead of seeing it through the eyes of a tourist.

On page 4 of this issue, the org makes this statement to try to excuse themselves of multiple failures of prophecy:
'Jehovah's Witnesses, in their eagerness for Jesus' second coming, have suggested dates that turned out to be incorrect. Because of this, some have called them false prophets. Never in these instances, however, did they presume to originate predictions 'in the name of Jehovah.' Never did they say, `These are the words of Jehovah.'
And yet, the blurb directly underneath it says this:
'Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creators promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away. '
If this isn't putting words in the mouth of God, and making false promises in his name, then what is?

Jws like to jump between the old and new testaments, to cherry pick whatever thought they are trying to justify at that moment. Proverbs 13:22 is a scripture I haven't heard quoted much though. It explicitly defines a good person as someone that leaves wealth to their grandchildren.
This one, short scripture actually contains a lot of wisdom if followed. It encourages someone to think long term about other people's benefit and promotes a sense of responsibility towards money and wealth.
Contrast this with the ex missionary / pioneer elder I knew that passed away recently in his 90s. When I gave my condolences, his daughter told me, almost proudly, that her father had nothing and died poor. It wasn't the time or place to tell her that he died pooe because he expected the end to be here decades ago and he didn't save to help his children, but I was thinking it.

Guns...Are You For or Against Legally Owning Them?
by minimus inthere is a surge going on of people buying guns, especially first time buyers.
with talk of police defunding and rioting in the neighborhoods, some people want to protect themselves.. do you support owning and using a gun if needed?.

Morph,
Military and police constantly drill the use of firearms. There's a good reason for that.
Simply owning a gun may make you feel safer, but you may not be any safer unless you regularly train under various scenarios.

Rub, the topic of gun ownership keeps popping up here.
My personal opinion is that buying a gun and believing that you are safe is lazy and delusional, particularly if you don't educate yourself by taking regular courses in the use of guns, especially in high pressure situations.
I'm not anti gun, but the thought that people can conceal carry without ongoing training is dangerous for everyone. In a real life scenario, you have half a chance of blowing your own arse off before you stop any crime.

Maybe its just coincidence, but the handful of dubs I follow on social media have been really quiet over the last few weeks. Usually, I would expect to see a few posts every week at least, but nothing recently.
